DEVON TAPAS COOKED ON SOLID FUEL FIRE
Chef Alex Pallatt took his interest in cooking on solid fuel to new levels when he transformed his kitchen into a solid fuel hearth. This was the start of a new cooking style that allowed for lots of different flavours, that cater for different food tastes and now cements his menu as very different from the normal pub menu. Devon Tapas are served here, and have proven incredibly popular, and an alternative way of eating for many. From his signature dishes such as 'shotgun chicken bites' to grilled local mushrooms, drizzled with British rapeseed oil and local garlic'. There is lots to try, share (or not) and indulge. Whether it's your first experience of tapas to not, the team are always on hand to help, and advise, guaranteeing something for all.
Sunday lunch consists of a meat selection roast plater; three meats (or vegetarian or vegan options) cooked on our fire and served with a minimum of 5 different local and seasonal vegetables, roasties and gravy. Why choose when you can have all three meats? Our vegetarian and vegan options are miles away from the traditional nut roast. Enjoy an ember baked aubergine steak or a harissa roasted squash stuffed with curried beans, all served with the same minimum of 5 different local and seasonal vegetables, roasties and gravy. Guaranteed to be interesting and flavoursome.

We don't believe in telling you how you should plan your group dinner or event; ultimately it's your event and we are just here to help. With over 30 years combined events experience between us, we have seen and done pretty much everything. From a family birthday meal to a staff gathering, we are happy to work with you to create your perfect function or menu; within your budget.
Our 'cook over fire' kit isn't static, and we can offer our fire cooking catering for your party or event at your venue. Menus can be anything from a slow roast loin of pork with fresh baps and apple sauce, served with salads to a BBQ-esque type menu or a giant paella for all the party to enjoy.

A WARM WELCOME. LARGE BEER GARDEN, FAMILY & DOG FRIENDLY, SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Plenty of variety; local beers and real ales, Westcountry spirits, cocktails, Devon soft drinks, and a varied and extensive wine list are on offer at the bar. Here at the pub you will find, a relaxed drinking and dining area in and around the bar; where local chatter and laughter can be heard, a semi-private restaurant and a beer garden with views that stretch miles over the Devon countryside. A monthly theme night, is always popular, as it follows on from the around the world menu offering the immediate locality enjoyed during the lock-down takeaways, and gives a monthly change away from the usual menu.
'Gilliveroo'; the popular, local takeaway service started up during the pandemic is still operating. Menus and dates it's available are published on social media channels.
